Guide to Growing Long Hair {Secrets Revealed}

Hello my gorgeous friends! I’m very excited to share with you today some secrets to growing long, healthy hair. {Which shouldn’t be secrets at all!} As a stylist I am constantly getting asked how to grow longer hair and how to grow it fast. Sit back, relax, and lets talk all about those luscious locks!

Eat Healthy & Drink Water

This may sound so basic but everything you put into your body affects your health and hair. Your hair needs certain nutrients to grow long and strong …mostly protein. {Sounds sexy, I agree.} We tend to think our protein needs to come from steak, chicken, and other meats- but it is also found in eggs and beans.  Plus, water cures everything!

Are you On Medications?

Certain medications, extreme diets and surgeries really affect your hair. If you have started a new medication and have noticed hair loss as a side effect be sure to mention this during a consultation with your doctor.

No tight buns or ponytails

Say yes to the scrunchie! Be kind to your locks and they will be kind to you. Do not pull tight or brush hard. Please, no sleeping with elastics in.

Minimize Stress

Breath. Relax.

See your stylist regularly

Trimming your hair really does matter. I explain to my clients to compare their hair to a piece of yarn. When you start to unravel the end {split ends} the yarn keeps splitting. If you cut off some of what you unraveled but not all of it, the split will continue to keep moving up the hair shaft. Be sure to see your stylist every 3 months, minimum.

Purchase a B Complex vitamin, these include 8 essential B vitamins that not only help your hair but also enhances your metabolism and energy.

Massage the scalp

Circulate the blood flow.

Deep Conditioners

Conditioning your hair is key! I have mentioned in a past blog all about repairing dry hair after summer is over. Be sure to let the conditioner set for awhile in the shower: shave your legs, exfoliate your face, pamper yourself. You will notice a huge difference in the health of your hair! {Side note: The past blog explains more, but, if your hair feels mushy when wet you need a protein treatment, not moisture!}

Take breaks away from the hot tools

Day to day I realize you need your blow dryer and flat iron to get ready for work or your hot date. But I suggest that on the weekends or over a holiday break you let your hair relax too. Enjoy a deep conditioning treatment in a hot shower, break out your scrunchies, grab some water and minimize that stress. You will have long, gorgeous hair in no time!

The Secret to Marriage {Advice: From Couples Married for Decades}

Hello my gorgeous friends! Yes, I still have marriage on the brain! I have been married to the love of my life for three months… amazing, life changing, adventure-taking months. When planning your big day it’s so much stress that comes down to the best twenty-four hours of your life, the day you look and feel most beautiful. Then, once the stress and organization (or disorganization) of planning is done and the big day is over, what happens?

This won’t be a blog explaining how to send your dress in to be cleaned or reminding you to review your vendors. I love to ask couples who have been married 20, 30, 40 plus years what is their “secret to marriage”. You bet I have received some amazing answers! Today I will be sharing just a small portion of advice I have received over years of asking and investigating. Sustained marriage is a rare thing to see, while divorce rates are  at an all time high.

So, what is the secret? What happens after the wedding is over?

“Travel.. Why would you spend your whole life just chasing after money… spend it and make memories.”

“Always date and flirt with your spouse. Grab their butt. Cook. Dance. Enjoy life together.”

“If your husband didn’t clean before, he won’t now that you are married. No magic button here.”

“People are wrong, marriage isn’t 50/50. Each person needs to aim to give 110%.”

“Have the conversation, who will be doing what chores, who will pay the bills, etc. This may sound silly but these are real questions to ask.”

“Do not bring up the “D” word… ever. No matter how upset you are, divorce is not an answer.”

“No silent treatment, no sleeping in separate rooms. If you need time to cool off, then cool off but separation may only cause more of a wedge it won’t solve any issues.”

This is my most favorite advice to live by as much as possible:

“Once you are married, you are a TEAM you are a unit. You make money for your team, you dream with your team, then you grow and succeed as a team.”

I will not be a statistic, I don’t want my children to have worry about who will have them on what holidays or weekends. I believe fully in my vows, no matter what rough patch we will ever face. Please take some of this advice and use it to the best of your ability. If you would like more blogs like this, be sure to let me know. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my website. I’m sending you all of my love and all of my positive energy.

Hermann, Missouri Weekend Scenery

Hello my gorgeous friends! I want to share with you today about an amazing weekend I just had and I want to express to all of you just how crucial it is to be surrounded by family and friends who love and support you. Physical possessions will always come and go but memories, photos and experiences really do last a lifetime.

A few months ago, my husband and I sat down with my mom and her new husband to let them know where and when we were moving across the state. After dropping the big news, my mom composed herself in what seemed like forever when in reality was only a few seconds. Then the words she spoke made my heart fill with so much joy, “Looks like I’ll have a road trip and we can have a girls weekend in Hermann.” Just when I thought I knew my mother.. she was able to take a conversation that broke her heart and made it into something so very special.

Yes, this is how my mother’s birthday weekend in Hermann, Missouri began. If you have never been to this historic town it’s a must see, beautiful wine country. Most of my photos you will see in this blog do not show just how astonishing these views really were. My mother-in-law, my mom and I had a very eventful, memory-making , jaw dropping weekend.

Above is the view from the front porch of the home we rented for the weekend. Every morning we came out onto the front porch with our coffee and blankets to watch the perfect view of eagles flying above the Missouri River.

Two photos above are the OakGlenn Winery, personally my favorite scenic view.

In the end this was an amazing girl’s weekend, I highly recommend everyone enjoy a relaxing trip surrounded by beauty and positivity! I want to thank you all so much again for all of the love and support.

Simple Ways To Bring Fall Décor Into Your Home

Hello Gorgeous! So today I wanted to step away from my normal hair blogs and talk about my current home décor fall favorites. As some of you may know, the past few months have been crazy: getting married, traveling to our honeymoon, moving across the state and everything else that comes into play with those life changes. So as we settle in to our new home I have decorated with very simple touches of fall.

fall-favorites-home-decor-hair-by-amy-wentz-blogYankee Candle: Salted Caramel

I knew that this season I didn’t have time or the patience to get too in depth with my fall décor (which means my Christmas décor will be much more festive… my husband will be so excited.) I am in LOVE with this look I have photo’d above.. so simple. I already had the tray and glass hurricane vase, which by the way both have come in handy so often for my decorating ideas. Add some small pumpkins into your larger vase and light a cozy candle. I have this positioned at a slight angle on our living room coffee table.

Modified version of the first photo idea… stacked pumpkins (the white one did not come with a stem) used with the same candle and tray on our white wood kitchen table.

Two other candles I have been obsessed with this season have both been from Bath & Body Works. The first is Pumpkin Pecan Waffles which I found and tried last year (I could be wrong but I think the packaging has changed) and purchased the hand soap with micro beads for our guest bathroom. I will have the photo below.

Second is the Pumpkin Spiced Cheesecake candle, this year was my first time trying it and I do really enjoy the scent. Personally for me it is one I can’t have lit for too long but is still cozy. I will post a photo below. (Our Bloodhound, Copper in the background, she is very excited about our fall décor too!)

Lastly I wanted to share one of my most favorite fall purchases that I believe I found at Hobby Lobby or Homegoods. This is one of my favorites because of the style, nothing about this is screaming at you. Currently in my kitchen since it is so subtle.

Healthy Hair Care Tips & Tricks :Repairing Your Dry Summer Curls This Fall

Hello Gorgeous! I want to thank you so much for coming back to my blog. If it’s your first time here, welcome! I love seeing and hearing from new viewers, if you would like to be notified when I post be sure to follow on my main page!

Today I plan to reveal some of my healthy hair care tips and tricks to help you get your dry summer locks back on track to be your best fall accessory. As you may know if you read my last blog post about frizz and smoothing treatments, moisture and protein are your saving grace! If you have yet to read that I will link it here.

Sadly summer has come and gone, now is the time to show our hair some love and repair. Between the chemicals in our pools, heat of the sun, and salt in the ocean our hair is begging for some help and attention. This is not including the normal  and amazing professional color appointments with your stylist or hot tools when daily styling.

If your hair feels rough, brittle, dry, or tangled you are most likely needing more moisture in your hair care routine. Look into a deep conditioning treatment with your stylist and ask about a recommended hair masque or conditioner to help soften and hydrate. If your hair feels limp, stringy, sticky, tangled, or fades color quickly then protein reconstruction is needed. Either way neither is a one-time fix and need to be continued to experience the benefits. Below I have listed some go-to products to get your healthy hair on the right track.

Redken Extreme Anti- Snap Leave In Conditioner

The award winning, best selling Redken Extreme Anti- Snap Leave in Conditioner is an easy addition to your current hair care routine. Just apply to your towel dried hair and style as normal. One product to protect against five hair damages including heat, chemical and surface damage. More info.

Redken Blonde Idol Hair Mask

If moisture is what your hair is looking for the Redken Blonde Idol Hair Mask will be perfect for you. This lightweight gel formula will only increase shine, is great for all hair types and will not weigh down your volume. The rinse out mask sits on your hair for 5-10 minutes to target damaged hair with intense hydration. More info.

Thank you all so much for all of your love and support. If you have any questions or comments my contact information will be provided below.
